Ecomaster 3000

today was a really fun and productive day. Me and Anna met up and finally finished up the rest of our Ecomaster 3000 project. There was a lot of cutting and gluing and painting but it was very fun and we are really proud of the outcome! :D

PRINTS

last term i took a printmaking class at Art Center, taught by Tony Zepeda. It was really amazing to see the process of how a print was made, from intaglio to woodcut to silkscreen. Although it was alot of work, I had so much fun in the process! a life-changing experience for sure!
the gumball is a 4 color print done through silkscreen.

The comic cover BALLBREAKER was done out of spontaneity. I was just sitting in front of my computer when i started to make shapes and VIOLA! this came out. i guess my subconscious is trying to tell me something.....

The vintage graphite drawing was done recently for Rob Clayton's Drawing concepts 2 class. The project was to create a new breed of dog by combining 3 or more breeds. I combined the Mastiff, Saluki, and Boxer to create the ultimate hunting dog. If you look closely, you'll find some surprises. It was a lot of fun researching different types of breeds and its history. I wanted to portray my breed as if they actually existed from the dawn of time, so i combined the historical aspect of master paintings with these new breeds to give it the vintage look.

Recently ive been fascinated with type so i came up with the word prosper and made a typography for it. i wanted to combine it with something picturesque so it will have some juxtaposition.

here's some stuff i worked on last term. The class was called Illustrative Storytelling with Jeffrey Smith. These are 2 of a 5 part series of paintings i did for the final. I was trying to capture the essence of Union Station in LA. People waiting and going, anticipating. People meeting in the middle. It was both beautiful and tragic to actually stop and see people live their lives.

here's a piece i recently did for my internship. im thinking of using it for a shirt with the girl on the bottom right and the logo on the top left.

i really like how the tattoos came out too. (though the scan doesnt do it justice)

this is an assignment i did for school. We were to do a portrait of a singer and portray their music or personality through a certain style.

I kinda played with it in photoshop to give that kind of weird dimensional feel.

internship

so ive been recently caught up in a internship ive been doing at a clothing place called SULLEN. the clothing designs are mostly based on badass type, tattoo art. Its been really interesting to see how unique and powerful each tattoo design is. I havent really been that interested in tattoos since i came to intern there. My boss Ryan is a really amazing tatto artist and designer. ACCD alumni too, which is quite a coincidence! anyways, ill be sure to post up some designs ive been doing real soon.

first of all, i cant believe i finally made a blog. POP THAT BOTTLE OF KRYSTAL!

anyways, about a month ago i had my very first group show with friends at Art Center. It was an experience to remember. it was so much work but it was so much fun! i think it is an experience every artist should go through because it taught me so much about timing, galleries, people, etc. and most importantly how much it takes to make it in this industry. yeh i gotta tell ya its alot of work, but in the end it pays off.

anyways, here are 2 pieces i did for the group show FEARLESS. it was A LOT of work, time, money, time, pain, time. but hey! it pays to work your butt off.
